Father, 4 siblings of De Oro COVID-19 fatality infected, too

CAGAYAN DE ORO—The father and four siblings of a COVID-19 fatality here are also infected with SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes the disease.

Dr. Joselito Retuya, the city’s chief epidemiologist, said tests results on the father and four siblings of the 34-year-old market vendor, who died last June 7, showed they were positive for coronavirus.

Retuya said the five had not shown symptoms yet but are on quarantine already.

Aside from the five cases, a 60-year-old overseas worker and resident of Bulua village here had tested positive for coronavirus in Pasig, Metro Manila, according to Retuya. The worker was on his way to Indonesia.

The worker was leaving for Indonesia when he took the test in Pasig. He arrived in the city from Indonesia last March 12 and had gone on quarantine and released when he showed no symptoms.

The worker had completed all documentation needed when he left the city last June 10. Retuya said the worker is now on quarantine in a company condo in Pasig.

The six new COVID-19 cases brought to nine the city’s tally, according to Dr. Lorraine Nery, city health officer.
