DepEd forms cyberbullying program in Metro

/ 05:20 AM September 04, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education-National Capital Region (DepEd-NCR) office will be creating an advocacy program on cyberbullying, noting that many students are now more active on social media, which can adversely affect their mental health.

According to DepEd NCR Director Malcolm Garma, they are coordinating with children’s rights groups and organizations such as Save the Children for their flagship program, pointing out that excessive use of social media can be a trigger “to do something that is very regrettable.”

He said that the programs would focus on the effects of cyberbullying to strengthen their guidelines on the proper use of social media. — (Meg Adonis)
