MANILA, Philippines — A landslide along the Pakkil Section of the Tabuk-Enrile Road in Cagayan has left the road connecting the province to Mt. Province impassable, Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said.

In a video he shared on Thursday, Villar said that the landslide occurred specifically along K0392+260 – K0392+310 — a part of the highway located in Bontoc, Mt. Province.

He assured motorists that the Department of Public Works and Highways was already working on clearing the road to provide access.

The landslide was caused by strong winds and rains brought by Typhoon Ulysses, which crossed Central Luzon on Thursday.

While Ulysses’ concentration was on the Southern Luzon-Metro Manila-Central Luzon areas, it also affected towns as far as Cagayan Valley and Mountain Province due to its wide diameter. [ac]
