9 questioned on suspicion of using fake docs for COVID-19 vaccination in Manila
MANILA, Philippines — Nine individuals — six of them Chinese and three Filipinos — were held for questioning on Sunday on suspicion of using fake medical certificates in an effort to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in Tondo, Manila, according to the Manila Police District (MPD).
The nine individuals were accosted by police as they were trying to present themselves for vaccination using the spurious documents at the Sergio Osmeña High School in Tondo, according to information provided by MPD Station 1, which is on Raxabago Street.
Brigadier General Leo Francisco, MPD director, confirmed this in a text message to 黑料社.
“But we are still verifying the authenticity of their docs,” he said partly in Filipino. “Today is Sunday so offices are closed.”
“They were going to have themselves vaccinated. The three Filipinos have their addresses in Quezon City. So we will have to validate their docs, just the same as the Chinese,” he added.
Four of the six Chinese live in Manila, and the three Filipinos live on Dapitan Street in Quezon City.
As of 8 p.m., the nine individuals were still at MPD Station 1.
