Typhoon Bising update: Signal No. 2 lifted but Signal No. 1 remains over 7 areas

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 has been lifted but Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over seven areas in Luzon as Typhoon Bising slowed down while maintaining its strength, moving northwestward east of Cagayan on Wednesday, the weather bureau said.

In its 11 a.m. severe weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the following areas are under Signal No. 1, where winds of 30-60 kilometers per hour may be experienced in at least 36 hours or intermittent rains may be expected within 36 hours:

Bising was last spotted 360 km East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kph and gusts of up to 215 kph, moving northwestward at 10 kph.

Pagasa said the typhoon is seen to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday evening or Sunday morning.

It is also likely to be downgraded to a severe tropical storm category by Saturday and to a tropical storm category by Sunday.
