2 more Olongapo seniors die of COVID-19, raise city death toll to 72

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—Two more senior citizens in Olongapo have died of COVID-19, raising the city’s death toll from the viral disease to 72 on Tuesday (May 4).

In an advisory, Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the patients, aged 68 and 70, suffered from acute respiratory failure secondary to COVID-19.

They were the city’s seventh and eighth COVID-19 fatalities in a week. All the other fatalities were seniors, too.

Local health data showed that 16 new infections were also recorded on the same day.

So far, Olongapo has 174 active cases out of 1,532 infections recorded since 2020.

At least 1,286 of these patients had recovered from the disease.
