MMDA vaccinates PBA players, staff members vs COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has started the vaccination of Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) players and staff members against COVID-19.

The MMDA said PBA staff members and players were given Sinovac vaccines at the MMDA vaccination facility in Makati City over the weekend.

“The PBA is one of the industries in the country struggling to cope with COVID-19. About 1,200 workers in the industry have been affected by the pandemic,” MMDA chairman Benhur Abalos said in a statement on Sunday.

According to the MMDA, 400 of the PBA’s 1,200 players and staff members have already received their first vaccine dose.

Abalos said basketball players and the PBA staff members are classified as economic frontliners and are included in the A4 category of the country’s vaccination priority list.
