OVP’s Vaccine Express aims to immunize 4,000 vs COVID in Pasig

Vice President Leni Robredo’s office is partnering with the local government of Pasig City this time for their Vaccine Express initiative, aiming to vaccinate 4,000 local residents.

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo’s office is partnering with the local government of Pasig City this time for their Vaccine Express initiative, aiming to vaccinate 4,000 local residents against COVID-19 this Saturday to Sunday.

Information from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) showed that the Vaccine Express, a revolutionized drive-thru vaccination concept, will be held from August 21 to 22 at the Manggahan High School in Pasig’s Karangalan Village.

The individuals who would be vaccinated are under the A5 category, and have been pre-registered with the city government.  As a rule, no walk-in applications for anti-COVID-19 vaccines would be allowed.

“As part of the [OVP] contribution to combat COVID-19 pandemic in the country, the office partnered with the local government unit (LGU) of Pasig City and Angat Buhay partners to further expand the LGU’s vaccination by supplementing the human resource personnel in the existing Manggahan High School vaccination site with medical professionals and students,” OVP said.

“The vaccination will start at 8:00AM for all pre-registered with the Local Government of Pasig City; walk-ins will not be allowed,” it added.

Similar to previous Vaccine Express programs, those who will have themselves vaccinated against the disease would receive a post-vaccine care kit which consists of 50 pieces of face masks, 10 pieces of paracetamol, 30 pieces of Vitamin C capsules, and two bottles of mineral water.

Pasig is the latest city to adopt the Vaccine Express initiative, as Quezon City, Naga, Iriga, and Manila have already partnered with OVP for the system.

The government is currently relying on anti-COVID-19 vaccinations to usher in herd immunity for the country, especially in areas that are currently experiencing a spike in infections.

According to Department of Health (DOH) numbers earlier, the country again broke its highest single-day record for new infections, with 17,231 new COVID-19 cases

The high increase in infections brought the country’s active case count to 123,251, as only 5,595 patients have recovered from the disease, for a total of 1,653,351 recoveries.
