PNP: Intel officer shot dead in Albay
MANILA, Philippines — A policeman serving as intelligence warrant officer was gunned down in Albay, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported Monday.
PNP chief Guillermo Eleazar said the victim was identified as Police Staff Sergeant Allan Madelar assigned at the Guinobatan Municipal Police Station.
Eleazar said Madelar was gunned down on Saturday night by still unidentified suspects in Barangay Peñafrancia where he attended a birthday party.
Eleazar has ordered the Police Regional Office 5 to conduct an investigation on the case while he urged witnesses to come forward to hasten the resolve of the crime.
“Kasama dito ang pagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon upang matukoy ang motibo na magiging susi sa pagkakakilanlan ng mga taong nasa likod nito,” Eleazar said in a statement.
(We are investigating so we can find out the motive that will be the key for the identity of the person behind this.)
“Nais ko iparating sa mga kaanak ni PSSgt Madelar ang pakikiramay ng buong PNP at tinitiyak ko sa kanila na hindi titigil ang kapulisan hangga’t hindi nadarakip at nasasampahan ng kaso ang mga salarin,” said PGen Eleazar.
