Zambales tightens curbs due to 'significant' increase in COVID-19 cases

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—The government of Zambales province has enforced tighter quarantine restrictions due to a “significant” increase in COVID-19 cases, an official said Friday, Oct. 15.

In an executive order, Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. said people’s movement would be restricted again, only allowing access to essential goods and services.

Ebdane said children below 15 years old, elderly residents over 65 years old, pregnant women and those with health problems were again prohibited from leaving their houses.

He also imposed a province-wide curfew from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.

Zambales is among the areas that were placed under modified general community quarantine, the least restrictive containment classification, from Oct. 16-31.

As of Thursday, the province has 576 active COVID-19 cases out of the 9,331 infections recorded since last year.
