MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) used the names of Hollywood actors, musicians, basketball stars, and other prominent personalities as “candidates” in the test ballot used in the simultaneous mock elections held nationwide on Wednesday.
Those listed as “presidential candidates” on the ballot are Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Selena Gomez, Angeline Jolie, and Brad Pitt.
Meanwhile, Christian Bale, Mariah Carey, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Lebron James, and Harry Styles were listed on the ballot as “vice-presidential aspirants.”

The ballot also included Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Hugh Jackman, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Emma Watson, and Kanye West as “senatorial candidates.”
“Candidates” for the House of Representatives, mayor, vice mayor, and member of the Sangguniang Panlungsod were mostly local celebrities like Angel Locsin, John Lloyd, Maris Racal, Sue Ramirez, Gretchen Ho, and Rico Blanco.

The Comelec held the mock elections in 34 barangays in Pasay City, Taguig City, Pateros, Isabela, Albay, Negros Oriental, Leyte, Maguindanao and Davao del Sur to demonstrate the entire election process, from the precinct level up to the transmission of votes to the National Board of Canvassers.
