MANILA, Philippines β The (BI) will install more closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in airports to prevent a repeat of the so-called pastillas bribery scheme that led to the dismissal of several immigration personnel.
βWeβre also improving our technologies. One hundred percent of our inspection areas are now covered with CCTVs,β said Dana Sandoval, spokesperson for the BI.
βThese dome CCTVs are in high-definition, can be zoomed in even up to the nails of our immigration officers, and it will still be very clear,β she added.
Sandoval said they would also install glass barriers to serve as dividers between immigration counters.
βThese are transparent barriers so the activities of our immigration personnel are highly visible,β she said, adding that the CCTVs and glass barriers will cover all airports in the country.
