MANILA, Philippines — The remains of Filipino lawyer John Albert Laylo, who was fatally shot in Philadelphia earlier this month, arrived in the Philippines on Wednesday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs, Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Worker’s Affairs receives with sadness the arrival of the body of Atty. John Albert B. Laylo, a shooting victim in Philadelphia,” the DFA said in a statement.
Laylo’s mother, Leah, and his cousin accompanied the body back to Manila on a Philippine Airlines flight from New York, according to the DFA.
“The rest of the family members — Albert, the father, and sisters Ann and Althea, were at the airport to receive them,” the DFA said.
The 35-year-old lawyer was shot on the morning of June 18 in Philadelphia. He and his mother were shot while onboard a car.
Laylo was shot in the head while his mother sustained minor injuries from the shattered car window.
