MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies in the morning and slightly warmer weather at noon are expected on Thursday in Metro Manila where President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is scheduled to take his oath of office as the country’s 17th Chief Executive.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Benison Estareja said Metro Manila will experience cloudy skies in the morning.

“Sa Metro Manila kung saan ngayong araw po ay meron tayong presidential inauguration, asahan po natin sa umaga ay halos maulap na kalangitan at sa tanghali may kainitan pa rin naman,” Estareja said.

(In Metro Manila where the presidential inauguration will be held, we can expect cloudy skies in the morning and warmer weather by noontime.)

In the early afternoon until evening, Estareja said localized thunderstorms as well as heavy rains are possible

Marcos will take his oath of office at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila.

According to police, up to 30,000 people are expected to flock to the Intramuros area to witness the President-elect’s inauguration.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said Tropical Depression Caloy, which exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday, will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” bringing rains to parts of Luzon and the Visayas.
