PH records 10,271 new COVID-19 cases from July 4-10

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reported logging 10,271 new COVID-19 cases from July 4-10.

The latest count indicated a daily case average of 1,476, which is 39 percent higher than the recorded new coronavirus infections the week before – 7,398, or an average of 1,057 cases a day.

Most of the newly logged cases were mild, while 27 (0.27 percent) were severe or critical, according to the DOH. Currently, a total of 555 patients are severe or critical.

The number of COVID-19 deaths, meanwhile, increased by 50. But all these happened as far back as November 2020 until May 2022 and were only validated recently.

Utilization of beds dedicated to coronavirus patients outside the intensive care unit (ICU) was 22.7 percent from July 4-10, while utilization of beds dedicated to coronavirus patients in the ICU was 17 percent.

Regarding vaccination progress, fully-vaccinated individuals are now at 71,055,752, which is 78.95 percent of the government’s target population, after 697,115 more completed their primary vaccination series against COVID-19 last week.

Boosted individuals, on the other hand, increased to 15,342,652 after 394,872 more received booster doses also last week.

As of Sunday, July 10, the country’s total confirmed COVID-19 cases stood at 3,718,467, based on on its website. This number includes 3,644,009 patients who survived the viral disease and 60,640 patients who died.
