Laborer hurt when he falls from building in Kalinga due to earthquake

TABUK CITY—A 31-year-old laborer suffered fractures in his right leg and foot after he fell from the second floor of a building when an earthquake on Wednesday, July 27, hit Lubuagan town in Kalinga province.

Major Garry Gayamos, Kalinga police spokesperson, told the Inquirer that Marvin Liw-agan Allit, 31, of Man-obal in Tinglayan town, also in Kalinga, was plastering the second floor of the house of Reynaldo Andaya in Duya-as Poblacion when the earthquake hit at 9 a.m.

Frightened, he tried to go down from the second floor to secure himself, but the vibrating foundation of the roof threw him down, causing him to hit the concrete and fracture his leg and foot.

He was taken to the Western Kalinga District Hospital for treatment.

The magnitude 7 earthquake that hit Tayum, Abra at 8:43 a.m., rocked several areas in Luzon, causing landslides and damage to infrastructures in Metro Manila, Baguio, Abra, and Vigan City.
