PH logs 3,181 COVID-19 infections; active cases at 36,035

The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday recorded 3,181 new infections of COVID-19, with the tally on active cases slightly decreasing to 36,035.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday recorded 3,181 new infections of COVID-19, with the tally on active cases slightly decreasing to 36,035.

The new cases then raised the country’s total caseload to 3,813,952 nationwide, with 3,717,028 recoveries and 60,889 deaths, based on the .

This is lower than the average daily cases recorded from August 1 to August 7, at 3,904, but still higher than the number of cases recorded on Tuesday at 2,618.

Metro Manila still had the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 15,804 cases, followed by Calabarzon at 10,059, then Central Luzon at 5,102.

Quezon City, meanwhile, is now at the top of the list of areas with the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 3,478, surpassing Cavite, which recorded 3,387. Laguna comes third with 2,914.

Meanwhile, the tracker shows 24,659 individuals tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday, reflecting the number expected on Thursday.
