Signal No. 1 in 3 areas as Typhoon Henry slows down; Rainy Friday in Luzon, Western Visayas
MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Number 1 is up over Batanes, Babuyan Islands and Santa Ana, Cagayan where heavy rainfall is expected due to (international name: Hinnamnor), the reported Friday morning.
“Henry” was downgraded Friday from a super typhoon to a typhoon.
Metro Manila, the Ilocos region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies and scattered rain showers due to the trough of “Henry” and the enhanced southwest monsoon or “habagbat,” Pagasa added.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies and isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Tracking “Henry”
The typhoon as of 5:00 a.m. was spotted almost stationary some 395 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph.
” Typhoon Henry is forecast to remain almost stationary this morning before tracking slowly northwestward later in the afternoon. On the forecast track, Henry will eventually accelerate northward tomorrow and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on tomorrow evening or Sunday morning,” Pagasa said.

“Moderate to heavy rains with at times intense likely over Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains possible over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Cagayan,” Pagasa added.

The state weather bureau likewise warned of possible flash floods and landslides in rain-affected areas.
Rough seas up North
Rough sea conditions perilous to navigation will prevail in the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon.
“Under the influence of ‘Henry; a gale warning is in effect for the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon. In the next 24 hours, ‘Henry’ may bring moderate to rough seas over the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon and Southern Luzon (1.2 to 3.0 m). These conditions may be risky for those using small seacrafts. Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions,” Pagasa said.
