PH logs 3,822 new COVID-19 infections; active cases now at 29,525
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday logged 3,822 new COVID-19 cases, slightly raising the number of active infections to 29,525.
According to the, the country’s total COVID-19 caseload is now at 3,951,766, with 3,859,260 recoveries and 62,981 deaths.
The new infections, meanwhile, are significantly higher than the 2,489 infections recorded on Friday, as well as the daily average infections recorded from September 19 to 25 at 2,794.
Metro Manila, based on the DOH tracker, still leads the list of regions with the highest number of infections over the last two weeks with 14,299. Metro Manila is followed by Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) with 5,634 and Central Luzon with 2,958.
In terms of individual areas, Quezon City continues to lead with 3,472 infections, followed by Cavite with 1,897 and Rizal with 1,780.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, 18,202 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Friday. The test results will be reflected in the tallied number of new infections on Sunday, Oct. 2.
Article continues after this advertisementThe DOH earlier said it projects the number of daily COVID-19 cases nationwide to range from 4,000 to 8,000 by the end of October, if compliance to minimum public health standards continue to become more relaxed.
