CEBU CITY — About 2.1 million students in Central Visayas went back to school on Tuesday, November 2, for the full implementation of in-person classes.

Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, director of the Department of Education in Central Visayas (DepEd-7), said 1.9 million students were from public schools while the rest were enrolled in private schools.

“We have one school in Tagbilaran City, Bohol which failed to implement the in-person classes yet because their classrooms have not been turned over yet,” he said.

Jimenez described as “successful” the implementation of in-person classes in the region.

“The schools really did well at the start of the full in-person classes. I observed that our schools were very systematic in implementing their rules,” he said.

In private schools, Jimenez said only 75 percent were able to fully implement the in-person classes.

“We have private schools which chose to implement a hybrid-type of classes. And they were given permission by our central office,” he said.
