Central Luzon workers get P10 add’l wage hike
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Workers of private establishments will receive P10 more in their daily wages this month, the last part of the wage increase approved in May 2022 by the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board III (RTWPB 3).
On May 30, 2022, the RTWPB 3 approved a P40 wage increase for private sector workers. But only P30 was given on June 20, 2022.
Under the wage board’s order, workers will start to get the remaining P10 on Jan. 1.
From P443 to P450 per day, the wages of non-agriculture establishments in Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales will increase from P453 to P460.
Agricultural workers will now get between P414 and P440 per day, while those in retail and service establishments will get P435 to P449 daily wages.

Article continues after this advertisementThe Solidarity of Unions in the Philippines for Empowerment and Reforms, the Central Luzon Workers for Wage Increase, the Association of Wage Earners and Advocates-Philippine Trade and General Workers Organization, and the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines had asked the RTWPB 3 for P750 to P920-wage increase for Central Luzon workers.
The board approved only P40, citing the consumer price index, the 6- percent inflation rate, and the P369 poverty threshold in 2018 as bases for its decision.
The wage board’s members include the regional directors of the Dept. of Labor and Employment, the Dept. of Trade and Industry, and the National Economic and Development Authority; two representatives from the employers’ sector; and two from the workers’ sector. INQ
