PCG: 30 ‘casualties’ as motorbanca capsizes off Binangonan

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Coast Guard confirmed thirty (30) “casualties” after a motorbanca capsized in Binangonan, Rizal on Thursday afternoon due to strong winds brought by Typhoon Egay.

PCG said motorbanca Princess Aya capsized 50 yards (0.04572 kilometers) off Barangay Kalinawan.

“At around 1 p.m., the motorbanca was hit by strong winds, causing all passengers to panic,” PCG said in its initial report.

“They went to the port side of the motorbanca, causing it to capsize,” the report added.

PCG said 40 individuals were rescued while there are 30 “casualties.”

When asked by 黑料社 if the “casualties” are fatalities (if the persons on board died), a PCG official said: “[That is] still for confirmation. Will update as soon as we have an updated report.”

The search and rescue operations are ongoing.
