LTO vows action vs overloaded trucks

MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Friday vowed to address and take action against overloaded trucks.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II made the commitment after Senator Joel Villanueva raised issues on overloaded trucks passing through Bulacan and Pampanga.

“Sinabi ko, ‘ay Sir (Senator Villanueva) tamang-tama may meeting kami ng PNP-HPG [Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group], isasama ko na ‘yung concern niyo para ma-aksyunan na namin ‘to,’” said Mendoza in a meeting with the PNP–HPG.

Mendoza said overloaded trucks pose danger to all road users since they are more prone to mechanical problems.

Mendoza said the LTO will strengthen the collaboration with other government agencies, such as the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) to address the issue.
