MMDA unveils Motorcycle Riding Academy in Pasig
MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) officially unveiled on Wednesday the MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy at the corner of Julia Vargas Avenue and Meralco Avenue in Pasig City,
The academy — built on a lot owned by the Government Service Insurance System — offers free two-day courses consisting of theoretical and practical instruction for bikers, whether beginner or experienced, aged 17 years old and above.
“I don’t believe that other motorcycle riders are inherently undisciplined. They simply lack knowledge and education in proper road usage, traffic rules and regulations, and proper driving skills,” MMDA acting chairman Don Artes said in Filipino in a statement.
“That is our goal in establishing the MC Riding Academy – to provide education to motorcycle riders and change their mindset.”
Artes said the MMDA partnered with several stakeholders for the modules to be used in training and donations of motorcycles, container vans, tents, and helmets, among others.
