Expect rain over PH due to LPA, habagat on Friday 鈥� Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — Many parts of the country will experience rains due to the trough of the low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) and the southwest monsoon on Friday, the weather bureau said.
“Yung pong extension area ng low pressure area o yung tinatawag po naming ‘trough’ ay umaabot po sa may silangang bahagi ng Visayas, at ganoon din po sa Mindanao,” weather specialist of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Aldczar Aurelio reported.
(The extension of the low-pressure area or what we call ‘trough’ reaches the eastern part of Visayas, as well as Mindanao.)
According to him, the LPA is still outside the PAR and was last seen 1,700 kilometers east of Central Luzon. It is expected to enter the PAR within the next 24 to 48 hours and still has a chance of becoming a typhoon.
Because of its trough, Pagasa said that Eastern and Central Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers.
Article continues after this advertisementAs indicated in the weather bulletin of Pagasa, the same weather conditions apply in Palawan, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the rest of Visayas, but only because of the southwest monsoon.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers because of the trough of the LPA and localized thunderstorms.
The weather bureau further advised the public to expect isolated or sudden rain showers that may include heavy rains.
“Asahan ang mga isolated na pag-ulan o biglaang buhos ng pag-ulan. Katulad po kahapon, nakaranas tayo ng matinding pag-ulan dito sa Metro Manila,” Aurelio stated.

No gale warning is raised in the country, Pagasa noted.
