Bohol town councilor shot dead

TAGBILARAN CITY — A still unidentified gunman shot dead Friday a municipal councilor in Buenavista town, Bohol province.
The Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) identified the victim as Danilo Hayag Añora, town councilor, who resides in Barangay Dait Norte in Buenavista.
The investigation shows that Añora was on his way home on board his motorcycle from the Buenavista cockpit arena around 12:30 a.m., when the motorcycle-riding assailants shot him when he reached the Cangawa National Highway.
The victim was immediately brought to the Francisco Dagohoy Municipal Hospital in Inabanga town where he was declared dead on arrival.
The Buenavista police headed by Captain Edcel Petecio conducted a hot pursuit operation for the possible arrest of the perpetrators.

Investigators said politics may be the motive behind the killing, but the Buenavista Police Station is “deepening its investigation to identify other possible motives.”
