Repatriated OFWs will get psycho-social support, other aid – DMW

MANILA, Philippines — Israel-based Filipino workers who were repatriated on Oct. 18 will get psychosocial counseling and other forms of support, the (DMW) said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The department, with various government agencies, will provide immediate assistance and other forms of support, including psycho-social counseling, stress debriefing, medical referral, and temporary accommodation to the OFWs while awaiting transit to their respective provinces,” the DMW said.

The DMW made the announcement on the same day that it welcomed 16 Filipinos, including a one-month-old baby, from war-torn Israel on Wednesday.

The repatriates — the first batch from Israel — were welcomed by the Sen. Raffy Tulfo, who chairs the Senate Committee on Migrant Workers, and the DMW officer in charge, Hans Leo Cacdac.

In a separate statement, Philippine Ambassador to Israel Pedro “Junie” Laylo Jr. said they are now assisting another group of 19 Filipinos set to fly back to the Philippines on Thursday, Oct. 19. 

Laylo did not provide other details.
