BI nabs 2 Paris-bound Filipinos at Naia over fake work papers

MANILA, Philippines — Immigration officers intercepted two Filipino women who paid their recruiters to process counterfeit documents at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) in Pasay City.

Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday said the women admitted paying their recruiters an amount of P75,000 each in exchange for their documents that would enable them to work in Paris supposedly.

They were stopped from leaving the country on Tuesday as they were about to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

BI said the two initially claimed to be officemates in an information technology networking company.

They eventually confessed the employment documents they presented were fraudulent.

BI said the papers were given to the women by recruiters they met online.

This information came from the bureau’s immigration protection and border enforcement section.

The women were turned over to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking.

Investigation and filing of charges against their illegal recruiters will also be done.
