 4 Army troopers killed in Maguindanao del Sur ambush

 

MANILA, Philippines — Four soldiers were killed in an ambush staged by suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Datu Hoffer Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur, on Sunday, according to the Philippine Army. 

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy Galido did not provide further details on the soldiers’ deaths but revealed that they troops were ambushed near a residential area in Barangay Tuayan Mother.

“The soldiers were heading back to their patrol base after buying supplies when the perpetrators ambushed them near a residential area in Barangay Tuayan Mother,” Galido said in a statement.

“We are working closely with local authorities and community leaders to ensure that security measures in the area are sustained. This incident only strengthens our resolve to eradicate this terrorist group from our land once and for all,” he added.

Galido also offered their condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of due enefits and assistance.

“The Philippine Army condemns the senseless, treacherous, and most heinous acts perpetrated by this terrorist group. The Army is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators face the full consequences of their actions and that justice will be served for the victims and their families,” he said.
