Last April 11, transport groups Piston and Manibela announced their plan to conduct a series of transport strikes beginning April 15 to protest the government’s pronouncement that the Public Utility Vehicle franchise consolidation will no longer be extended past April 30.

On the other hand, due to continuous hot weather, some Metro Manila local government units implemented heat mitigation measures in schools, such as suspending afternoon classes or shortening class periods to ease the students’ ordeal due to sultry weather.
