Two minor earthquakes hit coast off Baganga town in Davao Oriental

MANILA, Philippines — Two succeeding earthquakes struck off the coast of Baganga town in Davao Oriental on Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The first quake occurred at 9:59 a.m. and logged a strength of magnitude 3.9.

It was detected 112 kilometers (km) northeast of Baganga.

Phivolcs said a magnitude-4.1 earthquake hit the town five minutes later.

It was located 84 km northeast of Baganga.

The state seismologist said both tremors were one kilometer deep and were tectonic in origin.

It also did not record any reported or instrumental intensities in any areas following the quakes.
