Heat index in Catanduanes may reach 46°C on Sunday, says Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — Seventeen areas are expected to reach a heat index under the “danger” category, with Virac in Catanduanes possibly hitting the highest at 46°C, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), a heat index of 42 to 51°C falls under the “danger” category — a level that would likely cause heat cramps and exhaustion, while heat stroke is probable with continued heat or sun exposure.

Aside from Virac, Maasin in Southern Leyte may reach the second-highest heat index at 45°C, while three others could hit 44°C.
