Motorists using the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (Cavitex) Project will be enjoying toll-free access for 30 days—a move President Marcos hopes will ease the impact of rising fuel prices on motorists.

“With all of these, we are creating a nation where Filipinos may easily access and traverse our communities and have a comfortable and productive time as they do it,” he said.

Marcos made the remarks as he led the groundbreaking of the Cavitex-Calax Link and the Cavitex C5 Link Segment 3B and the inauguration of the Cavitex C5 Link Sucat Interchange on Friday morning.

He described these as “milestone projects” that will “transform the lives of millions of Filipinos” by systematically easing traffic flow in the greater Metro Manila area.

The President welcomed the Philippine Reclamation Authority’s (PRA) proposal to suspend the collection of tolls for all types of vehicles passing through the Cavitex for 30 days.

“This will introduce our new roads, expressways to those who are in need of that transport system,” he said while thanking the PRA for “its initiative to help mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs to our motorists.”

The Cavitex C5 Link Sucat Interchange opened to the public at 6 p.m. on Friday. In a statement, the Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. said motorists may pass through the segment for free for a limited time.

The three Cavitex segments were undertaken by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) in partnership with the PRA in a bid to improve connectivity and foster economic growth between Calabarzon and Metro Manila.
