LIST: Relief operations for people affected by Typhoon Carina

MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Donation drives and relief operations were conducted on Wednesday to aid people affected by Typhoon Carina (international name: Gaemi) and the southwest monsoon.

Anna Patricia Non, founder of Community Pantry PH, announced on Facebook that the organization is on 鈥渟tandby鈥 to aid affected communities.

She also said they are preparing to distribute hot meals in evacuation centers.

Non-profit organization Tulong Kabataan PH Disaster Response Center called for in-kind and cash donations.

The group said rice, ready-to-eat meals, canned goods, instant noodles, bottled water, and first aid and hygiene kits can be dropped off at the聽Ateneo de Manila University Leong Hall (Near Gate 3) and University of the Philippines Manila USC Office.

The Alliance for Concerned Teachers also called for cash and in-kind donations for people affected by the typhoon.

Angat Buhay, the non-government organization founded by former Vice President Leni Robredo, posted its hotline for rescue assistance and coordination with partners and volunteers.


According to the 11 a.m. weather bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, Carina further intensified and was expected to head towards Taiwan and exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Wednesday afternoon or evening.

The center of the typhoon was last located 345 kilometers North Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center and gustiness of up to 205 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 was raised over Batanes, while TCWS No. 1 was up in Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of Cagayan, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.
