Sorsogon towns suspend classes due to Tropical Depression Enteng
LEGAZPI CITY – Classes at all levels in public and private schools were suspended on Sunday, September 1, in towns in Sorsogon province due to Tropical Depression Enteng.
In an advisory, Mayor Carolyn Reyes of Pilar town said all classes and activities were suspended starting Sunday.
Reyes also advised all residents near landslide and flood prone areas to take precautions.

In Sorsogon City, Mayor Ma. Ester Hamor also ordered class suspension at all levels in both public and private schools starting Monday, September 2, to ensure safety and to anticipate the possible effects of the bad weather.
Article continues after this advertisementAt 2 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Southern Luzon issued an orange rainfall warning in towns of Barcelona, Bulan, Bulusan, Casiguran, Gubat, Irosin, Juban, Magallanes, Matnog and Santa Magdalena in the said province, which means landslide and flooding would be possible in low lying areas and near river channels.
Article continues after this advertisementWhile yellow warning was raised in towns of Castilla, Donsol, Pilar, Prieto Diaz and Sorsogon City in Sorsogon and Masbate.
In its 2 p.m. bulletin, Pagasa said Enteng maintained its strength as it moves northwestward.
It was located at 110 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar and sustained winds of 45 kilometer per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 1 was raised in the eastern portion of Isabela (Palanan, Dinapigue), the eastern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan), the eastern portion of Camarines Norte (Mercedes, Basud), the eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Presentacion, Garchitorena, Caramoan, Calabanga, Naga City, Pili, Bombon, Magarao, Ocampo, Baao, Nabua, Bula, Balatan, Bato, Milaor, Minalabac, Camaligan, Saglay, Iriga City, Buhi, Tigaon, San Jose, Goa, Siruma, Tinambac, Lagonoy, Canaman, Gainza, San Fernando), Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Burias Island, and Ticao Island; and in Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, and the northeastern portion of Leyte (Babatngon, San Miguel, Tacloban City, Alangalang, Santa Fe, Palo, Barugo) in Visayas area.
