MANILA, Philippines — Whirlwind Corporation stakeholder Katherine Cassandra Li Ong was excused from the House of Representatives quad-committee hearings after her blood pressure fell to 80/40, with medical staffers saying that it may be a sign of hypotension.

During the hearing on Wednesday, Ong went to the bathroom for a short break but was unable to come back after she asked for medical assistance.  Hours after she was attended to by medical staffers, House physician Dr. Jose Luis Bautista said that Ong’s situation was unstable.

“To put it in a nutshell, Ms. Cassandra Ong is quite unstable as of this moment, so definitely as I saw it earlier that her blood sugar was very low, unreadable na even through the RBS (Random blood sugar test) and now it was after giving her carbohydrates it was raised to 269,” Bautista said.

“Her blood pressure right now is only 80 over 40, and of course, as the doctor will also know, we cannot take this one and separate blood sugar and blood pressure, so it’s all intertwined, so that’s why I can say that she’s quite unstable now,” he added.

According to Bautista, they also took Ong’s blood pressure at around 10:00 a.m., which showed that it was at 70/40.

“So that’s it, in fact, if I may say, this morning, when we checked her blood pressure is only 70 over 40, and we did some things but right now just to let you know, we recommended to the secretary general and I think it will be coursed through you also, that she be worked up properly before we can give her the proper diagnosis as to what she’s having right now, because we actually don’t know if its because heart failure or something like that,” Bautista noted.

After deliberations, quad-committee lead officer and Surigao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Robert Ace Barbers said the House’s health bureau does not have to ask for the committee’s approval in these emergency situations, urging the bureau to bring Ong to the hospital immediately.

Ong appeared before the House quad-committee again, testifying earlier that his top boss at Whirlwind Corporation — a certain Duanren Wu, who happens to be her godfather — was a former Chinese government official.

To be more specific, Ong said that Wu was a former police officer in China before he pursued business ventures.

However, Ong was reprimanded by several lawmakers after she refused to answer several questions again. It was also revealed by Santa Rosa City Rep. Dan Fernandez that Ong backed out from a previous commitment to sign a bank secrecy waiver and would also no longer avail of an executive session to provide information on Pogos.

Lawmakers believe Ong’s testimony was crucial because it would establish that Whirlwind and Lucky South 99 are the same company.
