Marcos declares 5 holidays in October

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issued over the weekend several proclamations declaring special nonworking holidays in five localities for October.

In Proclamation No. 693, he declared Oct. 4 a special nonworking day in Infanta, Pangasinan, to mark its 148th anniversary.

The President also issued Proclamation No. 694 declaring Oct. 16 a nonworking holiday in Lapuyan, Zamboanga del Sur, for its 67th anniversary.

Proclamation No. 695 declared Oct. 25 a nonworking day in Negros Oriental in celebration of its Buglasan Festival.

Proclamation No. 696 also declared Oct. 26 a special nonworking day in Angeles City, Pampanga, for its Tigtigan Terakan Keng Dalan Festival. The event commemorates the city’s recovery from the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in June 1991, according to the Presidential Communications Office.

The President also issued Proclamation No. 697 declaring Oct. 28 as a special nonworking day in Dingle, Iloilo. According to Marcos, it is fitting for the people of Dingle to commemorate the Cry of Lincud, the first declaration of revolution against Spain in the province of Iloilo and the island of Panay.

The five holiday declarations were signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
