CEBU CITY — Several local governments in Cebu suspended in-person classes on Monday, Sept. 30, to allow the inspection of school buildings after Sunday’s earthquake.

The Department of Education-Cebu City Division issued a memorandum that all public and private elementary and high schools would implement modular learning.

Some universities in the city also suspended their classes at all levels. These include Don Bosco Technical College-Cebu, Asian College of Technology, and Cebu Normal University.

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake shook part of Cebu on Sunday afternoon. Its epicenter was traced to Poro town on Camotes island.

The Poro Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office said it had not received  any report of damage caused by the quake as of Sunday evening, Sept. 29.
