Angara: Teachers play ‘significant role’ in nation-building

MANILA, Philippines — In closing this year’s National Teachers’ Month (NTM) celebration, Education Secretary Sonny Angara stressed the importance of teachers in nation-building.

“Always remember the significant role our teachers play in the progress of our nation. We count on you to continue prioritizing the welfare of our students,” Angara said.

DepEd is set to conclude its Teachers’ Month celebration this year with an event at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Thursday.

Ten thousand public school teachers, education stakeholders, DepEd officials, and local government representatives are expected to attend the day-long program featuring raffle draws and performances.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos are expected at the event as guests of honor, joining Angara, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, and NTM Coordinating Council Chairperson and Metrobank Foundation President Aniceto Sobrepena.

This year’s National Teachers Month was themed “Together4Teachers” to “shine a spotlight on the tireless dedication of Filipino educators.”
