Classes in Rizal province suspended due to Typhoon Nika

LUCENA CITY — Classes in Rizal were suspended on Monday, Nov. 11, due to severe weather caused by Typhoon Nika (international name: Toraji).

Gov. Rebecca Ynarez encourage schools to shift to alternative learning methods, such as modular and online learning.

As of 5 a.m. Monday, the center of Nika was last located some 100 kilomoters east- southeast of Casiguran, Aurora. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilomters per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 150 kph. It was moving west-northwest at 20 kph.

Rizal was placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 along with Laguna and Quezon provinces.

On Sunday afternoon, Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez annouinced the suspension of classes at all levels, public and private in the province

The provincial government of Quezon also declared that classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12 were suspended in the localities under TCWS No. 1.
