PCG suspends sea travel in northern Quezon due to bad weather

LUCENA CITY — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended sea travel on Monday, Dec. 9, in the northern part of Quezon province due to rough sea conditions.
In an advisory, the PCG in northern Quezon based in Real town cited the 11 a.m. forecast by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) that strong gale-force winds associated with the northeast monsoon “are prevailing or expected to affect the northern and eastern coast of the Polillo Islands (northern Panukulan, northeastern Burdeos, northern Patnanungan, and northern and eastern Jomalig).”
“In this regard, all trips of vessels and small crafts with 250 gross tonnages and below plying the route within the abovementioned areas of northern Quezon are hereby suspended,” the PCG said.
The suspension order would be lifted, and sea travel may be resumed when weather and sea conditions permit, as may be declared by Pagasa, the PCG said.
Polillo Island, facing the Pacific Ocean in the northern part of Quezon, is host to the towns of Polillo, Burdeos, and Panukulan.

Meanwhile, the local governments of Real and Infanta towns in northern Quezon suspended classes at all levels on Monday due to heavy rains. INQ
