‘Amihan,’ ITCZ to bring clouds, rains to most parts of PH on Dec. 27
MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to prevail and bring cloudy skies and rains to most parts of the country on Friday, the state weather bureau said.
In the 4 a.m. weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the northeast monsoon will bring rains to northern Luzon.

(The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will experience fair weather today but there are still chances of isolated rain showers due to the thunderstorm.)
Meanwhile, the weather specialist noted that cloudy skies currently prevail in Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao due to the ITCZ or the convergence of winds coming from the northern and southern hemispheres.

(Due to the ITCZ, cloudy skies and scattered thunderstorms will be expected in Palawan and the whole Visayas and Mindanao. We advise [everyone] to stay safe from the rains that may cause flooding and landslides.)
No low pressure is monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility and within the Pacific Ocean.
However, a gale warning is raised over the following coastal areas due to the northeast monsoon:
- Batanes
- The northern coast of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
- The northern and western coasts of Ilocos Norte
Aurelio warned that sailing in these waters is dangerous because 2.8 to 4.5 meters of waves are likely to occur.
