MANILA, Philippines — An earthquake of 5.0-magnitude hit waters off Tawi-Tawi on Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
In a bulletin, Phivolcs said the tectonic quake struck east of South Ubian in Tawi-Tawi at 6:39 a.m. and had a depth of 502 kilometers.
Phivolcs noted that no intensities were recorded because the earthquake was deep. It also said that no aftershocks and damage to properties are expected from this temblor.

Also on Saturday, an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 hit offshore in Surigao del Norte.
Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 2:42 a.m. and was felt in Surigao del Sur and other areas.
