340 firecracker–related injuries logged, so far – DOH
The number of firecracker and fireworks-related injuries logged nationwide from December 22 until New Year’s Day is now at 340, the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Wednesday.
The figure is 34 percent lower compared to the 519 cases recorded in the same period last year.
Firecracker and fireworks-related injuries treated at the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) rose from 12 to 21 as the hospital marked New Year’s Day.
EAMC Spokesperson Dr. John Paul Ner said five of the 21 victims required hospitalization due to the severity of their injuries.
