Firework mishap kills 1, injures 3 others in Pangasinan amid New Year revelry

DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — A 44-year-old man died during the New Year celebrations after a firework he lit struck his head.

Allan Carrera Ballesteros of Barangay Bonuan Gueset was rushed to Region I Medical Center for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival, according to local police.

Four others sustained injuries caused by fireworks and firecrackers during the festivities. Among the injured were two boys, aged 11 and 8, from Urdaneta City, and two males, aged 14 and 33, from Lingayen town.

Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.

Authorities urge the public to prioritize safety in future festivities.
