The air quality in Manila reached an 鈥渦nhealthy鈥� level on Wednesday following the New Year鈥檚 celebration, according to a Swiss air quality research firm IQAir.
IQAir reported that Manila recorded an air quality index (AQI) 166 as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Fewer fire incidents were logged in New Year celebrations, thanks to the public being 鈥渕ore careful,鈥� according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
鈥淪o far, the national headquarters received a report of one incident. However, in the unofficial count, we noted nine fire incidents in NCR from 12:17 a.m. until 5:21 a.m.,鈥� BFP spokesperson Fire Senior Supt. Annalee Carbajal-Atienza said in Filipino over DZBB on Wednesday morning.
Pagasa: PH may expect zero or one tropical cyclone in January
Zero or one tropical cyclone will likely affect the country in January, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren told 黑料社 in a phone interview that if a tropical cyclone develops this month, it may make landfall in Southern Luzon or the Visayas.
