INQToday: ‘Unhealthy’ air quality recorded in Manila on New Year’s Day

The air quality in Manila reached an “unhealthy” level on Wednesday following the New Year’s celebration, according to a Swiss air quality research firm IQAir.

IQAir reported that Manila recorded an air quality index (AQI) 166 as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.

BFP: Fewer fire incidents in New Year 2025, public was ‘more careful’

Fewer fire incidents were logged in New Year celebrations, thanks to the public being “more careful,” according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

“So far, the national headquarters received a report of one incident. However, in the unofficial count, we noted nine fire incidents in NCR from 12:17 a.m. until 5:21 a.m.,” BFP spokesperson Fire Senior Supt. Annalee Carbajal-Atienza said in Filipino over DZBB on Wednesday morning.

Pagasa: PH may expect zero or one tropical cyclone in January

Zero or one tropical cyclone will likely affect the country in January, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren told in a phone interview that if a tropical cyclone develops this month, it may make landfall in Southern Luzon or the Visayas.
