No gov't work, classes in Manila, Pasay on Jan 13 – Malacañang

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang ordered the suspension of work in government offices and classes at all levels in Manila and Pasay cities on Monday, January 13 due to the “National Rally for Peace” of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC).

Malacañang issued Friday Memorandum Circular No. 76 for suspending government work and classes in the two cities as a million people are anticipated to participate in the INC event at the Quirino Grandstand on Monday.

“However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services,” the memo states.

Malacañang said the suspension of work in non-government or private offices will be at the discretion of the respective companies.

The INC said its June 13 National Rally for Peace was organized to express its support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s opposition to the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
