MANILA, Philippines — It will be a rainy Sunday in parts of the country due to the northeast monsoon, shear line, and easterlies, the state weather bureau said on Saturday.

In its 5:00 p.m. update, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said that the shear line, or the convergence of warm and cold winds, will trigger rains in parts of Southern Luzon.

(The effects of shear line will bring light to moderate, and sometimes heavy, rains to parts of Mimaropa and the Bicol region.)

Partsof Northern Luzon and the rest of Luzon will experience light rains and cloudy skies due to the northeast monsoon, or “amihan.”

(The amihan will bring overcast skies with light to moderate rains in parts of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Quezon.)

(Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated light rains due to effects of “amihan.”)

Meanwhile, the easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, will cause rains in parts of Eastern Visayas and Mindanao.

(Western and Central Visayas will experience fair weather especially in the morning until noon but expect chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.)

(The easterlies will bring overcast skies and scattered rains to parts of the Davao and Soccsksargen regions.)

Further, the rest of Mindanao will experience generally fair weather but the possibility of thunderstorms and scattered rains are not ruled out.
