Manila Water Foundation recently held a series of hygiene and wellness education caravans to encourage everyone to start the year right with good health habits, in partnership with Unilever and Erceflora.

MANILA, Philippines – Manila Water Foundation (MWF), the social development arm of East Zone concessionaire Manila Water Company, held a series of hygiene and wellness education and donations events to encourage everyone to maintain good health and well-being.

In partnership with Unilever Philippines, MWF held a hygiene education and sanitation caravan in key cities in Luzon to remind the public, especially the youth, of the importance of water access, sanitation and hygiene or WASH in human health and well-being.

The first stop of the caravan was held in two public schools in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna: in Santa Rosa Elementary School Central II and in Southville IV National High School.

MWF gathered campus student leaders in a WASH Aralan session to be reminded about proper handwashing, proper sanitation and proper toilet habits.

MWF also gave them a special task – to be WASH advocates on campus and at home.

Taguig City was the second stop of the WASH Aralan caravan.

MWF was hosted by Comembo Elementary School and was greeted by eager student leaders of the school who were reminded about proper handwashing, proper sanitation and proper toilet habits.

Day 3 of the WASH Aralan hygiene education series was in Pasig City.

Manila Water Foundation recently held a series of hygiene and wellness education caravans to encourage everyone to start the year right with good health habits, in partnership with Unilever and Erceflora.

Manila Water Foundation was accommodated by Nagpayong Elementary School where Grade 4 students welcomed team Manila Water Foundation and enjoyed the quick Q&A about handwashing, proper sanitation and proper toilet habits.

All these WASH Aralan sessions concluded with the presentation of donations.

Manila Water Foundation donated pails and dippers while bottles of Unilever Domex were handed over to the school to support learners’ health by maintaining cleanliness in campus washrooms and toilets.

Manila Water Foundation also visited City Health Offices to hand over boxes of Domex for the health centers in Marikina City, Pasig City, Quezon City, Taguig City and the City of Santa Rosa, Laguna.

Gut health

Then, Manila Water Foundation, in partnership with Erceflora, gathered school clinic staff and nurses of the Department of Education Schools Division Office Quezon City for a wellness talk on gut health.

The Kalinga para sa Batang Matatag Gut Health Talk highlighted the importance of strengthening a child’s immunity by supporting gut and intestinal health.

The attendees were also reminded to continue championing campus hygiene habits such as proper use of toilets and proper hand washing. 

Dr. Tess Hilario-Jimenez from Opella Healthcare Philippines gave an enlightening talk on the basics of gut and intestinal health, managing gut disorders in children and proper supplementation using probiotics.

Nurse Narciso Costales Jr., Schools Division Office QC WASH in Schools Coordinator, expressed his gratitude to Erceflora and Manila Water Foundation for the support to Quezon City learners.

Each of the 158 elementary and secondary schools in the Quezon City Schools Division will receive 100 boxes of Erceflora vials containing billions of Bacillus clausii Intelli-spores that restore microbiota and strengthen intestinal health for both kids and adults.

In the new year, Manila Water Foundation continues to commit to promote health and well-being through water access, sanitation and hygiene or WASH.
