MANILA, Philippines — Northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” and easterlies are expected to bring rain in parts of the country on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Saturday.

According to weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jordia in Pagasa’s 4 p.m. weather forecast, the northeast monsoon will strengthen over extreme Northern Luzon.

“Northeast monsoon will continue to strengthen and it will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains in extreme Northern Luzon, including Cagayan and Apayao tomorrow,” Clauren-Jordia said in Filipino.

Clauren-Jordia also noted that some areas in Luzon will experience fair weather with chances of rains.

“Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon will experience fair weather tomorrow but there is a possibility of light rains, especially in the early morningw,” she added in Filipino.

Meanwhile, the weather specialist said that rains are expected in parts of Visayas and Mindanao due to the easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.

“In Visayas and Mindanao, we are not expecting extensive rains tomorrow or within 24 hours. But scattered rains, and thunderstorms are possible in the evening, especially in the Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao region,” Clauren-Jordia added.
